This is an example of why I peruse Gizmodo fairly regularly (from this post)

I hadn't realized how many people still used XLR microphone inputs until I made an offhanded comment to a musician friend earlier. I have been suitably informed: Take the number of people you think might still use XLR inputs, add in the number of musicians you know personally, then multiply that by every star in the universe. The end product will not be the number of XLR users exist, but a measurement, in pounds, of how full of shit you are.

Well, that and all the cool stuff that I'll never buy but like looking at.
