New Project

My friend Lou has been playing with her digital camera and Photoshop lately. She's been having a lot of fun, and we decided to start a little project. Each week we decide on a theme, and then we each come up with a digital image that includes a photo we took. I figure it's a fun way to keep the camera in use and to work on those Photoshop skills. (Which are pretty minimal at this point!)

This week's theme is "This is Houston." I have an idea in mind, which is probably a bad sign.... It seems that things come together more easily without too many preconceived notions! Anyhow, we have a pretty good view of downtown from our office, so I'm thinking a picture of downtown, skinnified & stretched tall, will end up as flower stems in a vase, with bluebonnets or some other appropriately Texan flower on top. We'll see....

The long workdays I've been having lately have certainly taken a toll on my home computing. It's hard to get excited about even turning on Larry (my iMac--gotta have names for your friends) in the evenings. I've been deleting group emails wholesale and not even keeping up with Lileks, which is just sad.

One positive side-effect of limited online-time (depending on your point of view) is that I haven't had much opportunity to mope over my sudden descent from 2nd to 5th place in my Fantasy Baseball league. It's not pitching--I've managed to keep up with my starters and make good decisions about who to pitch, since that can be done a few days ahead of time in a pinch. My offense has just gone south. It's very sad. I was hoping for a nice rebound after the All Star break but so far it isn't happening.

And to continue the non-continuous theme here, Happy Birthday to Liz. It's not til Friday, officially, but she observes BirthWeek, so that's okay :-)
